Katrina Hodge Becamed Miss England

Rachel Christie withdrew from the title. Christie, who was the first black woman to be crowned Miss England, stepped down following her arrest over an alleged fight with Miss Manchester Sara Beverley Jones in a nightclub.

Katrina Kaif Roped in for Prakash Jha’s Satyagraha

Bollywood Garam: Besides presently shooting for upcoming movie 'Ek Tha Tiger' with ex beau Salman Khan, Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif has been reportedly roped in for a Prakash Jha movie. The movie is tentatively titled as 'Satyagraha' and the ‘Hey Baby’ actress seems to have landed a good role.

 

If things work out, then this will be the second project for Prakash and Katrina to work together after the movie 'Raajneeti'. Actor Akshay Kumar, who also stars in the movie, will be producing it and the exciting part is that the dancing queen Madhur Dixit will also be part of the project. Dixit has earlier worked with Jha in the movie 'Mrityudand'.

Bollywood Garam sources revealed that Katrina and Kareena Kapoor were being considered for the role, but Kaif became the lucky one to grab the deal. The makers are yet to sort out the dates with the actress.

Once again, Katrina will be seen in a de-glam avatar, similar to the look she carried in the movie 'Raajneeti'. The movie 'Satyagraha' is based on the sensitive subject of corruption and is somewhere inspired by the Anna Hazare episode. Katrina and Akshay have been paired several times in the past in the movies like 'Tees Maar Khan', 'Welcome', 'Namaste London' and 'Humko Deewana Kargaye'.

Movie Review: Agent Vinod

Saif Ali Khan and director Sriram Raghavan come together after their cult hit Ek Haseena Thi to create a Hollywood style spy thriller. Khan plays the highly trained and skilled RAW agent Vinod. And much like the Bourne, Mission Impossible and Bond franchises, Raghavan follows the formula of a spy thriller, traversing continents at lightening speed, cutting scenes with a breathlessness and slapping on a pulsating background score.

When his partner Rajan (Ravi Kishan) is killed in Russia while on the tail of a money launderer-racketeer called Abu Nazer (Ram Kapoor), Vinod is given the mission to pick up where Rajan left off. He must find out what the numbers ‘242’ signify and what major plot is involving Kazaan (Prem Chopra), a dangerous go-between in Morocco. It is while in Morocco, the reluctant house guest of Kazaan, that Vinod meets the lovely Dr Ruby (Kareena Kapoor, looking gorgeous). Intrigued by her he finds out her true identity and becomes her self-appointed protector as the pair team up and travel to Latvia, Pakistan and Delhi chasing a nuclear device in order to get to it before it explodes. Along the way Vinod will find himself double-crossed and compelled to think fast and feel less.

Agent Vinod, derived from so many Hollywood movies, is more about the packaging than the content. The narrative skips along without enough milestones or guidance for the audience; it doesn’t even manage to carry you along for the ride during the frenetically shot and cut action scenes.

Saif Ali Khan looks smart, oozes nonchalant charm and plays the poker-faced spy with constructed whimsy. He punches out some witty lines without skipping a beat. Raghavan is clever not to let a potential romantic track derail an already convoluted plot that needlessly involves so many players and countries. The makers have left it open enough to make a part two. Hopefully then the focus will be more on the story and less on the styling and Raghavan will show some more of the skill as he did in Johnny Gaddar and in some scenes in Agent Vinod, like the action scene cut to the ballad ‘Raabta’. If you contain expectations and have not seen too many international spy films, then Agent Vinod is worth a watch.

Angelina Jolie waged “a mean-spirited but effective campaign” against Jennifer Aniston when Brad Pitt divorced the 'Friends' star to be with her, according to a new book.

Titled Brangelina: The Untold Story of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, the tell-all has revealed that Jolie, 34, planted press stories in 2005 that painted Aniston in a negative ight.

Author Ian Halperin said that other helping the Tomb Raider star in scheming the press attack included her manager Geyer Kosinski and brother James Haven.

And the stories specifically claimed that Aniston firmly prioritised her career over starting a family — which put her directly at odds with Pitt, who ached for kids.

Jolie, “was convinced that this is the story that would resonate with all these women who saw her as a man-stealing bitch," Us magazine quoted Halperin as saying in the book.

Saif plans 3D ‘Agent Vinod’ sequel…

Actor-producer Saif Ali Khan, who is eagerly awaiting audience reactions to “Agent Vinod”, says he might plan a sequel to the spy thriller, and that too in 3D.

“I don’t understand 3D and don’t enjoy it, but my son does. So, maybe for the larger portion of audiences, one should consider it for sequel,” Saif told reporters.

“I didn’t consider going for it this time. There was some talk earlier though. If it becomes a big action movie, then it is a good idea to shoot it in 3D,” he added.

“Agent Vinod” is directed by Sriram Raghavan, and also features Saif’s real life lady love Kareena Kapoor.

Saif says if at all a sequel takes shape, the character of Vinod will be staple.

“It will be the same Vinod with another cast for the sequels if at all it comes. It is too early to discuss right now,” the 41-year-old said.

“Agent Vinod” hit screens Friday.

Madhur Bhandarkar to Face Trial in Preeti Jain Rape Case

Bollywood Garam: While film maker Madhur Bhandarkar is gearing up with his upcoming movie 'Heroine', the director has recently landed in a rape case. Upcoming model Preeti Jain has accused the film maker for allegedly raping her for five years.

The Bombay High Court on March 22, 2012 rejected Madhur's plea to stay the process against him in a Mumbai metropolitan court in the rape case. Jain's lawyer S Kunjuraman told the reporters that Justice R.C Chavan refused to stay the trial against Bhandarkar on Thursday and stated that he will now have to face a criminal trial.

The lawyer also stated that the ‘Page 3′ film maker tried his level best to buy time by approaching various courts and filing several places. But now Madhur does not have any more options and will have to face trial.

In the year 2004, model Preeti Jain lodged a complaint against the film maker and accused him of rape, several times between the year 1999 and 2004. Jain also added that Bhandarkar had made false promises to her to cast her in his movies. Later in the year 2011, a Mumbai metropolitan court found some evidence in Jain's complaint after which they directed the film maker to face a trial.

Agent Vinod Movie Review

Bollywood Garam: Bollywood actor-turned-producer Saif Ali Khan has finally released his much awaited spy thriller 'Agent Vinod' on March 23, 2012. The movie has been directed by Sreeram Raghavan and with the reviews coming in, one should not have high expectations from the movie.

So what does this much hyped movie have to offer to movie-goers? The makers have made the movie with the basic idea of how rival countries India and Pakistan should come together to fight out terrorism. Agent Vinod is the main character in the movie, played by Saif, who is introduced in a Pakistani desert, where he escapes from the clutches of a battalion of guards.

In the initial part, the director  of the movie manages to gain the attention of the audience through the main character, with the help of jumbled names and random numbers. But then the second half of the movie become difficult and starts dragging. One of the major mistakes made by the makers is that they have kept the character too simple to bear. This fails to grab the attention of the audience.

And when the end credits start rolling, the audience will be happy that the so-called ordeal is finally over. The actual reason behind it is that the main character is interesting enough in the first half, but is not of much interest in the second half. Moreover, the film even makes the classic mistake of trying to spell out everything to the audience, much to the disdain of the cinema-goers who paid to watch the film.

This also underestimates the intelligence of the audience and weighs down the entire movie. The director has also attempted to simplify many of the situations and no amount of style can make up for that. However, there are some moments which make the film worth watching like the shoot-out scene and even some of the dialogues are brilliantly executed. Not to forget Kareena Kapoor, who is sexy and brilliant as usual and even the music of the movie is attracting the listeners.

Speaking to her Nine co-star and fellow Oscar winner Marion Cotillard, the Spanish star said she thinks Meryl is the best there is.

“We only know each other from seeing each other at awards ceremonies or those kinds of events, but whenever I see her, I always go up to her and start kissing her,” Penelope said in the latest issue of Interview Magazine.

She added: “I don't even say anything – I just kiss her. She must think I'm some crazy person.”

The Spanish stunner believes that Meryl is the best actress there is, reports The Daily Telegraph.

“There is nobody better,” she said. “I watch her movies over and over again. I saw Silkwood again a couple of weeks ago, and it made me just want to kiss her feet.”

Ranveer Singh suffers back injury

Bollywood’s brush with injuries continues! The youthful actor Ranveer Singh has injured his back badly while shooting for his upcoming film Lootera, which also stars Sonakshi Sinha.

Reports suggest that Ranveer Singh got injured on Saturday itself, and, mistakenly taking it as a minor injury, he continued shooting for his movie! However, on Tuesday, the pain in his back became intolerable and Ranveer had no other option but to discontinue the shoot!

He was then taken to a doctor in Pathan Court, where after a MRI scan it was revealed that he has suffered an injury in his lower back and has been advised complete bed rest for the next two weeks and has also been kept under medical observation!

The 26-year-old actor is still in Dalhousie and it is not known as to when he would be fit again to resume the shooting of his film! About the film, Lootera is being directed and co-produced by Vikramaditya Motwane, and stars Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha in the lead roles!

We hope for Ranveer’s speedy recovery.

Kareena Kapoor Signed For Item Song in Dabangg 2

Bollywood Garam: After the huge success of the item song 'Munni Badnaam Hui', the makers of the movie 'Dabangg 2' are planning something big this time. Reports say that actress Kareena Kapoor has been roped in for a hot and sizzling item song in the movie along with Salman Khan.

 

Malaika Arora has been retained from the earlier movie, but Kareena will also allegedly be starring in a separate item song to make things more interesting for the audience. Bebo is in the news these days for her 'mujra' performance in the upcoming movie 'Agent Vinod'.

In the past too Kareena has done quite a few item songs like 'Its Rocking', 'Yeh Mera Dil', 'Chammak Challo' and 'Criminal'. The hero of the movie , Salman Khan, will be seen grooving to the song 'Pandeyji Mere Seeti' and will be joined by Malaika Arora.

The shooting of the sequel of 'Dabangg' has already begun on a huge scale. The makers have booked the entire studio for the shooting of a single movie with huge sets. There are high expectations with the sequel as the earlier part was a major success.

The movie will be directed by Arbaaz Khan and is expected to be released on December 21, 2012.

Former American supermodel Cindy Crawford has revealed she wants people to think of her as a sexy older woman, known as a “Milf”.

The 43-year-old has said she hopes people still think she’s sexy, even though she is now mother to two children, reports contactmusic.com.

“I don’t want to be a cougar, I want to be a Milf. I hate that word cougar and what it represents. Milf is a word I absolutely love,” she said.

The ‘Murder’ actress has spoken about her upcoming item song in the movie 'Tezz' by Priyadarshan in the feature.

Sherawat says that she is too excited to work with a team she is very fond of and the actress will also be grooving in an item song titled 'Laila Laila'.

Some of BollywoodGaram’s sources from the production unit said that the item girl shared a great rapport with the producer of the movie Ratan Jain, who earlier stood by her when she had just entered the film industry. Sherawat now wants to return the favour with the item song.

Popular choreographer Ganesh Acharya has been roped in to choreograph with a vampire background. On the magazine cover, Mallika has posed in white lingerie with no accessories.

The actress entered the film industry with the movie 'Khwaish' in which she had done more than 16 smooch scenes with her co-star Himanshu Malik. Pooja Bedi and Sky caught getting intimate!

Pooja Bedi and Sky reportedly threw caution to the winds and indulged in public display of affection while celebrating Holi recently.

We hear that at the Holi bash hosted by the yesteryear villain Ranjeet last week, Pooja Bedi and Sky (Akashdeep Sehgal) were seen getting intimate by the side of a pool. The two were reportedly spotted kissing and cared not a hoot for the onlookers.

Pooja Bedi even tweeted a picture of her celebrating with Sky.

The two became close during their stint in Bigg Boss 5, where Sky was in almost everyone’s bad books, save for Pooja Bedi who remained a unwavering supporter of him. After the show got over, the two remained in touch and were seen together at the launch of Dabboo Ratnani’s calendar. Since then there have been many occasions when the duo has been spotted together, though neither Pooja Bedi nor Akashdeep has confirmed their romance.

Pooja Bedi has been married once and divorced. She has had a string of relationships but none of them worked out. Whether her relationship with Sky will meet a different fate remains to be seen.

Legendary Anarkali actress Bina Rai Dies

Legendary actress Bina Rai, who charmed Indian audiences with her performances in Anarkali and Taj Mahal, and won a Filmfare award for Ghunghat, died of a heart attack in her Mumbai home on Sunday. She was 78.

Bina was married to actor Prem Nath, who was well-known filmmaker Raj Kapoor’s brother-in-law. She is survived by two sons – Prem Kishan and Kailash Nath.

“Her funeral will take place in Banganga [in South Mumbai] on Monday at around 4 p.m. We are waiting for my brother Prem Kishen. He is on his way back from abroad,” Kailash, also known as Monty, said.

Bina, who went on a hunger strike to convince her parents to allow her to act in movies, entered Bollywood with director Kishore Sahu’s film Kali Ghata in 1951. Later she featured in movies like Vallah Kya Baat Hai (1962), Bandi (1957), Changez Khan (1957), Durgesh Nandini (1956), Marine Drive (1955) and Aurat (1953).

But she is still remembered for her roles in Anarkali (1953) and Taj Mahal (1963). Her last film was L V Prasad’s Daadi Maa that was released in 1966.

Her son Prem Krishen, who had tried his luck in Hindi films with Dulhan Wohi Jo Piya Man Bhaye, is a successful TV producer and has made hit serials like Gul Gulshan Gulfam and Junoon.

Bina’s granddaughter Akanksha, too, entered films with Yeh Mohabbat Hai, but the film didn't work at the box office and she decided to bow out.

Her grandson Sidharth, however, is a successful TV director. He wielded the megaphone for the hit TV serial Sanjivani.
