Dev Anand : The legend passes away(Sep 26, 1923-Dec 3, 2011)

Actor-filmmaker Dev Anand passed away on Saturday night following a cardiac arrest in London, imprinting his footprints in the entertainment world forever…

Known for his evergreen aura, Dharam Dev Anand has perhaps being the most prolific and versatile member of the Bollywood fraternity.

Treating age just like any other figure, Dev saab’s contribution to the industry will be remembered forever. Movies like Guide and Gambler have been such huge blockbusters that the actor was given sobriquets like ‘Raju guide’ and ‘the great gambler’.

He was also honoured with the Padma Bhushan in 2001 and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2002. The actor apparently liked to be on his own.

He believed that an artiste has to isolate himself so that he can focus on his work. Sticking to his ideology, the actor preferred leading a simple life and never ruled out the possibility of falling in love again.

Trudging through quite an interesting and long journey, from his first movie Hum Ek Hain (1946) to the last one Chargesheet (2011), this legend and his enthusiasm to work and live life to the fullest, will be missed.

B-town mourns the death of this talented actor and so do the great number of fans who have grown up watching this expressive performer’s movies. Jewel Thief, Heera Panna, Hare Rama Hare Krishna, Johnny Mera Naam and Asli-Naqli – have been some of the actor’s best projects.

He may be no more but his youthfulness is sure to inspire many actors in the future.
