America’s Got Talent Wildcard Week Night 1 Recap 8/16/11

It is make it or break it time for 12 acts that thought they were done on this show weeks ago.  Aren't you glad they were wrong?  Because I sure am!

We cut to Nick Cannon standing in the middle of the Kinetic King's setup of cans, balls and sticks.  Each judge picked four acts to bring back for this night, and now we will see if they made the right choices.  Piers continues to throw insults at Howie's choices and Howie and Sharon are boo'ing him like crazy.

First is one of Piers' picks, the Kinetic King.  Nothing happened with his last show, but Piers is putting his faith in him for this one last try.  It starts off slow, picking up speed gradually, and really turns out amazingly with a spectacular show of kinetic craziness.  Piers, good choice, man!  I take back most of the bad things I said about you in my past recaps!  MOST!!!  But who cares about that.  His pick owned, and he could not be happier with it.  He thought everyone had doubted him, but I never doubted him for a second.  Sharon can say nothing but that she bows to the King.

Next up is one of my favorite acts, and one of Piers' least favorites, Howie's first pick Those Funny Little People!!!!  They have been training and eating right (not!) and they are ready for their chance and they plan to nail.  They bust out an Istanbul-themed song and dance this time, and Piers buzzes them almost immediately.  I liked it, and so did the crowd by the sounds of it!  Howie could not take his eyes off of Piers' face and does not know what to say.  Piers is making a jerk out of himself, putting his hands all over them, trying to get them away from him.  Needless to say he is the other side of the spectrum.  Sharon loved the camel, and thought it was sensational.  Howie thinks they should be Piers' holiday card, and I agree!  I'll vote for them dozens of times, and you had better, too!

Next is Sharon's first pick, Avery and the Calico Hearts!  They love Sharon for bringing them back, and they do not intend to let it got to waste.  We soon hear a buzz, and no surprise, it's Piers.  I kind of liked it, though.  Not exactly a dynamite performance, but they did a good job all the same.  Is Piers going to buzz every act that is not his.  Piers does not think they can win, but they make him smile, and he is sure that once their voices mature, they will be seeing them again is a few years.  Howie does not think they deserved a buzz, but now Piers interrupts about Howie's buzz habits.  Piers, I take back taking back the mean things I have said about you.  You deserved all of them!

Next is Howie's next pick, Seth Grabel.  Howie felt guilty when he sent Seth home, and how does he make up for it?  Bring him back, of course!  Seth is not sure what Piers' magic pick, Landon Swank has got, but he will make him work for the win. He brings in the car from the movie Back to the Future, along with three kids dressed to look identical to the judges.  Howie loves it and Sharon loves her double.  Piers thinks it was a bit lacking, and Sharon boo's him immediately.  I'll vote him up.  Will you?

Shevonne, who went home from Vegas, needs to make this chance count to give back to her mother, who worked several jobs to make sure she and her sister could live happily.  Sharon brought her back for a second chance, and we will find out how it goes now.  She puts a lot of emotion and soul into this song, and I can really respect her for that.  I think she will go further this time!  Sharon thought she took her breath away.  She is happy Shevonne came back, and so am I.  Howie thinks they made a mistake by sending her home in Vegas.  Piers finally agrees with Howie.  WHAT?!!!!

Another of Sharon's picks will now take the stage and it is West Springfield Dance Team!  It took them five days to work out a year's worth of practice for a whole new routine, and it is owning up to be great!  They don't want to scare anyone, but they are doing so much more than that!  Using Marilyn Manson's The Beautiful People really did them justice!!  Sharon thinks they were the first horror-themed dance group she has ever seen and they put their music to great effect.  Howie does not know if they stepped it up, and gets boo'd, and Piers agrees with him AGAIN!!!  Is he getting sick?  I heavily disagree with them, and they are getting my vote!

It is J. Chris Newburg up now with a Piers Morgan roast.  I missed almost half of his jokes, but I loved his act.  Everything he said about Piers made me laugh!  Howie is delighted to have brought him back for this.  I was laughing my head off just like Nick was.  Right in the middle of Piers' monologue, Howie buzzes Piers!  Sharon was laughing so hard she had to bury her head.  Even though he buzzed him out, Piers thought he was funny.  Am I hallucinating?!!  Please tell me I am!

The next act is Yellow Design Stunt Team, the last Sharon pick.  They slipped up in their last try, and plan to go bigger than ever before this time, now that they have been resurrected.  We see some awesome tricks, and a nice choice of music and choreography.  Pirates and BMX … who would'a thought of that?!  Sharon was glad she brought them back.  Howie was very excited by them, and Piers finds them very entertaining and thinks they have a very good chance.

Charles Peachock is back now, thanks to Piers.  The audience loved him in his last act, but despite that, Howie and Sharon both went against him, so Piers wanted to give him another chance, and now he is getting it.  Lots of fire in this one, including a chainsaw on fire.  First time I saw anyone juggle that!  Plus, a sword performance for the ages!  There was a slip-up, but I still liked it.  Piers thought he blew it, even though he did not buzz him out.  Sharon felt bad for him, but Howie was thrilled that he kept his shirt on!

The Fiddleheads are back for another performance, thanks to Howie.  They did not do what they really do best last time, so they deserved one more shot, and they got it.  They brought back the Bluegrass, and Howie thinks they brought it this time.  Piers does not think they work as a group.  BOO!  Nobody wants to hear what he wants to say, and nobody is letting him get a word in.  Boo's all around!  Sharon does not agree with Piers.  They were back in their comfort zone and they did great.  Piers tries to tell her she does not like them and she gets angry at him.  I think they did great!

Not long now until polls open.  Prepare your votes, ladies and gentlemen.

Another Piers pick, Summerwind Skippers, come back again for another shot at success.  Honestly, I don't know what Piers was thinking when he called their skipping "sexy."  I just do not get it!  Tonight's show will be more dangerous than last time, and they have not mastered it fully.  I am worried for them and for good reason.  With ropes ablaze, they take it to an amazingly new level.  Piers does know talent, and they have talent.  Saron thinks they have made skipping sexy and made an awesome show out of it.  Howie thinks the same.  There was a small slip up, but they still killed it!

One last act.  Will it be a showstopper?  We will soon see, my friends!

Piers' last pick, Landon Swank, is the last up, and Piers is absolutely confident in him.  He was #1 on Piers' list, and I am not really surprised about that.  Landon has talent, and he is going to need it to survive this next rick of his, which will take him to the brink of death and back.  He somehow manages to free himself from the tank of water before the minute is up, despite being handcuffed and chained to the bottom of the tank.  Piers thinks that was the proper trick, and thinks he will definitely go through.  Sharon thinks he is a very sexy magician, and thinks the trick was fabulous.  Howie thinks both magicians did well tonight, and could both go forward in the contest.  He says it isn't a competition between him and Piers, but Piers disagrees.

The acts are done, and it is time to vote!
